Foundation design recommendations for 42 turbine pads across variable bedrock, informed by seismic refraction survey.
Forty-two turbine pads spread across a ridge where bedrock depth and quality changed from one pad to the next. A single conservative foundation design for every pad would have wasted concrete on the good ground and under-served the bad; a boring at every pad would have blown the schedule.
Stratum ran a seismic refraction survey across the ridge to map bedrock depth and stiffness between borings, then targeted drilling at the pads where the geophysics showed the most variability. The combined dataset let us group the pads into foundation design zones with parameters the structural engineer could apply directly.
A PE-stamped foundation recommendations report covering all 42 pads, delivered with fewer borings than a pad-by-pad program would have required.
